Keeping your poker face on with AT&T

Lorrie and I decided to re-up our contract for cell phones with AT&T. Our current contract was up over a year ago. We've had our razor phones for 3 years now. So..we headed to an AT&T store and picked out some new "free" phones. When I got my new bill for our phones I noticed it was nearly $37 higher? So..I called AT&T and spoke with customer service. I ask "Why is my phone bill $37 higher when I didn't change anything?" The customer service rep told me it was for an upgrade? "But I didn't upgrade anything?" I told him. He proceeds to tell me that "when" you sign a new contract you upgrade. Hmmm....So I ask the guy "Your gonna to charge me $37 because I signed a contract to continue my cell phone for two more years?. That doesn't seem fair. I don't understand. I didn't upgrade anything?" So the guy tries to explain it to me again. I tell him it's unfair and ask if there's anyone I can speak with about removing the charges. He then  agrees to remove the charges from the phone. So there you go. Moral of the story...question any and all misc charges these forkers try to throw at you.

I know some of you might think...geez it's only $37. But $37 will buy Lorrie and I supper at Duffys in Esperanza.  It's all a means to an end.

Final Countdown.....

We are now only 1 week out from our trip. I've already confirmed our rental with Maritzas and have received the property manager number for Los Frutales. So far the airlines haven't jacked with our flight times..yet. Tomorrow and Sunday we will be getting things packed.

I ran into a bit of a snafu on the spear gun. I was unable to get the original gun that I  had wanted. The problem is with transporting it. Because we will be on the island for a full two weeks Lorrie and I will be checking in two bags. In order to travel with the Omar Caymen I was wanting I would have to buy some sort of tube or case to transport it, three checked bags now.  It seems that Cape Air will only let us check in two bags and oversize items are limited to available cargo space. So...I opted for a JBL double magnum custom gun. It will fit into our checked bags. I have a picture of it below:

Before I bought the gun I ask Lorrie "what do you think about me buying a spear gun?". She replies "either it will give you hours of enjoyment or hours of frustration, but either way it will give you hours".  Smart girl...my wife.

Saying goodbye to Hawthorn.....

It is with heavy hearts that Lorrie and I said goodbye to "Thorn" today. We both knew it was coming and wondered if he would make it when we were in Vieques this November. But as fate would have it he left  us before our trip.

Saying goodbye to pets is tough and I'm not sure what is the right way to do it. Today it was just one last walk to the point with Thorn. Just him and I, like we had done a thousand times before.  Only this time  he was so weak that he couldn't make it all the way back and I knew, it was time. I'll miss him waiting for me when I get home each day. I'll miss him howling each night after he eats. But most of all I'll just miss the unconditional love that a pet can bring into a human beings life. So goodbye Thorn...I'll miss you.

Birthday drink....

I work with a fellow who's a whisky connoisseur of sorts....he's a bourbon man, by trade, but today was kind enough to tudor me  on a good scotch whisky for my 49th birthday...Thanks Mindy.
